Phyllis Coulter | Herald-Whig (May 17, 2025)

Phyllis Coulter builds on her FarmWeek Now profile in the downstate Illinois Herald-Whig, highlighting how Jim O’Connor, a recovering alcoholic turned certified counselor, is leading the Second Story Foundation’s expansion to a 68-acre horse ranch in Crete, Illinois. Alongside Director of Operations Erik Christenson, O’Connor is developing a structured recovery program where men in early sobriety live rent-free, work on the farm, secure outside employment, and rebuild stability through purpose-driven engagement with horses and hands-on labor.
